Champions League Preview aka bring on the haters

By: Paul | Comments 1 Comment

Tomorrow pits Manchester United traveling to the San Siro to face AC Milan Inter Milan is which should be the most interesting ties in the 1st knockout stage.

A lot of previews are billing the match as Ronaldo v Zlatan and that is true, two of the most talented football players in the world anchoring two of the best football teams in the world. This is the perfect opportunity for Ronaldo to shut up the the non believers once again. Although the more I have followed Cristiano’s career it seems to me that no matter if he scores two goals in a game or gets two assists people will still complain about his celebrations or how he doesn’t respect the game. I like the approach Ronaldo is taking when he says he loves to be boo’ed and feeds off the negativity of opposing fans, get used to it for the rest of your career CR, haters have to hate.

Bold prediction : 1-1

Let the circus begin

By: Paul | Comments 1 Comment

Real Madrid’s interim president Vicente Boluda is confident the club will sign Manchester United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo.

Boluda, who inherited the top job at Real when Ramon Calderon was forced to step down last month, has added to speculation that the Portuguese is on his way to Spain by telling Cadena Ser’s El Larguero programme: ”I am convinced we will see him at the Bernabeu.”

Ok, The circus is about to begin again and like all Manchester United fans I’m not happy. I don’t understand the way Real Madrid work by taking this to the papers, if you want a player make the bids to the club don’t go to the papers. I hope Fergie continues his stance on not selling that club a virus.

Real Madrid = Attention whores

It must be tough being a very distant second fiddle to Barcelona

Keep on booing

By: Paul | Comments 3 Comments

“It’s normal for me now,” he said of the booing. “If it doesn’t happen, I’m thinking, ‘Why aren’t they booing me?’ Maybe they think if they boo, I’ll lose my concentration but it doesn’t happen. I like it.”

“I’ve spoken to some experienced players who have a great history in the game and they’ve said it’s not what you do in one season, it’s staying at the top level that is the challenge,” he added. “Winning trophies and being at this club, it gives you maturity and I have learnt a lot. I’m happy at this club. I want to stay here and I want to make history again for United.”

I really want to believe Ronaldo and I think I am starting to but I’m sure once summer comes I’ll be sad. Sorry for the lack of blogging lately, I’m a full time college student and also almost a full time employee but once I get my schedule figured out I will be back to a every or every other day schedule.

Live blog of a United game coming soon with an emphasis of praising Ronaldo and flaming the opponent!

Guus Hiddink is insane

By: Paul | Comments 8 Comments

The coach of the Russian National team Guus Hiddink has completely fell off of his rocker when he proclaimed that criminal, diver, scouse legend Steven Gerrard is better than Cristiano Ronaldo. I’ll let you digest that, Steven Gerrard > Cristiano Ronaldo. Ok now that I’ve thought about that I’ll justify it with a LOL. Here is the quote in full

“Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard, Lionel Messi or Xavi from Barcelona deserved the award more,” he told the Mirror. “Ronaldo is only focused on finishing in front of goal.

“I love Gerrard’s qualities as a player and a leader. Technically and tactically he is the best. His passion is enormous, he means as much for a great team as George Best.

I love Guus Hiddink as a manager, he was my number 1 choice to be the United States manager even over Jurgen Klinsman but his player ratings are a little off. Steven Gerrard has an extremely powerful shot, what other attributes can I name off of the top of my head, zero. He’s famous because he’s English, scores a few screamers, and plays for Liverpool.

I’ll leave you with my new favorite youtube video

Viva Ronaldo!

By: Paul | Comments Add Comments

Cristiano (or Slave as Taylor over at the Man Utd blog likes to call him) made an appearance today against Derby County in the second leg of the Carling Cup Semi-Finals and scored a goal in the 89th minute on a penalty set up by Carlos Tevez.

Hopefully Ronaldo can build of these 30 minutes of solid football played and terrorize Tottenham in the FA Cup game coming up up on January 24th

Viva Ronaldo!

His future

By: Paul | Comments 4 Comments

If you don’t know by yet, Real Madrid’s president Ramon Calderon has resigned from his post as President of Real Madrid, as we all know Calderon had a perma-boner for Ronaldo and promised the Madrid faithful that he would indeed be wearing the Madrid kit. What this does for the future of Ronaldo will be seen but one thing for sure is Calderon won’t be running off at the mouth proclaiming how the deal is already done which will be nice.

Ronaldo has stated numerous times that he loves being at Manchester and is happy here but it’s clear that Ronaldo does see Madrid in his future but the question is how far into the future is that? Will it be this summer? Next summer? Personally, I believe Ronaldo says goodbye to Manchester when Sir Alex Ferguson calls it a day

Thoughts?

FIFA World Player of the Year

By: Paul | Comments 1 Comment

“I’m still ambitious. I want to carry on and get better and better, even though it’s hard to achieve that. My ambition is huge.”

”This is the climax of a fantastic era for me. I’m happy and proud about what has been done by my team and what we have won. I am lucky to to be part of the history of a club like Manchester United.”

Stay classy Chelsea fans

By: Paul | Comments 8 Comments

At least Frank seems to enjoy Cristiano’s company because it seemed as if the traveling Chelsea faithful didn’t as chants of:

“Died in that tunnel, you should have died in that tunnel, died in that tunnnnnnel, you should have died in tha tunnel!”

I know songs at a football match are meant to get under the opponents skin but wishing death upon someone is a little bit too far IMO.

Ronaldo’s performance today

By: Paul | Comments 1 Comment

Having watched all 90 minutes from the comfort of my apartment I was glad to see Ronaldo had a spark to him today that has been missing from the last few appearances. Ronaldo looked to have found himself on the scoresheet in the 45th minute only to have it disallowed by the lineman and Howard Webb. I’m not sure if it was the right call or not with no camera on Giggs taking the corner. Ronaldo again found himself unlucky by the linesman that wrongfully declared him offside.

Ronaldo also found himself on the end of a Ricardo Carvalho mugging inside the box but somehow got the foul called against him and got a yellow card for the yelling that took place between him and Ricardo.

Ronaldo was very instrumental in setting up the second and third Manchester United goal with a lovely backheel to an overlapping Evra and a blistering free kick that found the foot of Dimitar Berbatov.

Overall, I’m happy with the performance today as will most Manchester United fans and hope he can keep it up for the rest of the season.

In the words of the special one “Be Champions”
